About Leigh

With more than 10 years of teaching experience, I have helped students from school, college, and professional backgrounds improve their piano skills in a structured and enjoyable way. I believe that every student can learn piano with patience, guidance, and motivation.

My teaching methodology is personalised: I assess each student’s level, interests, and learning style, and create lessons that focus on building strong fundamentals such as finger technique, rhythm, hand coordination, and sight-reading. I gradually introduce music theory, ear training, and rhythm exercises to provide a well-rounded musical foundation.

Lessons are interactive, practical, and often include song-based exercises, improvisation, and performance preparation to keep students engaged. I help students develop confidence, consistency, and disciplined practice habits. My goal is to create a motivating and supportive learning environment where students enjoy music and grow into skilled, confident pianists.

About the lesson

My teaching methodology is centred on understanding each student as a unique learner. I believe that learning piano is not just about playing notes but about developing a strong connection with music, building confidence, and exploring creativity.

I maintain open and clear communication with students, encouraging them to share their goals, challenges, and personal interests. This helps me tailor lessons that are meaningful, relevant, and motivating.

Creativity is at the heart of my teaching. I encourage students to experiment with different styles, improvise, and even compose their own pieces. By doing so, they not only learn technique but also develop their own musical voice. Flexibility is another key component of my approach. Every student has a different pace and learning style, so I adapt exercises, lesson plans, and techniques to meet their individual needs. Whether a student is a beginner exploring basic scales or an advanced learner mastering complex compositions, lessons are always personalised.

In addition to piano, I also incorporate relevant subjects such as music theory, sight-reading, rhythm training, and ear development. These skills strengthen students’ overall musicianship and deepen their understanding of music. My goal is to make each lesson engaging, enjoyable, and educational while nurturing a lifelong passion for music.
