About Elsie
"Watching a student finally lock in their posture and hand position after weeks of effort is why I keep teaching. I have worked with 383 students over 13 years, helping nervous beginners find their footing and advanced players refine their classical repertoire for high stakes exams. My approach is firm and detail oriented, focusing heavily on ABRSM and Trinity grade exam prep to ensure you reach your goals.
We spend time on the subtle nuances of dynamics and expression because music is not just hitting keys. Sight reading is a core part of my curriculum, as is developing accompaniment skills to make you a versatile musician. You will find my feedback blunt but consistently focused on your growth."

"Hearing a clear, resonant tone emerge from the strings is the first sign we are on the right track. I structure our 8 lessons to cover the technical mechanics required for accurate playing, backed by my Master of Music in Music Performance from the Sydney Conservatorium.
We strip back the piece to analyze the phrasing, ensuring every note serves the larger musical narrative. My 13 years of teaching means I know exactly how to diagnose your technical hurdles quickly.
We tackle complex passages by breaking them down into manageable segments that fit your current ability. You gain the discipline needed for performance level work through consistent, thoughtful critique. This is a space for serious improvement."
