About Robbie
- What kind of experience do you have? I have taught privately in Birmingham since graduating from Conservatoire. As a young musician I am passionate about sharing my enthusiasm for all kinds of music, from Rock and Pop to Folk, Jazz and Classical. I teach with patience and understanding. My specialism is in Jazz and improvisation and I can teach the basics of harmony and music theory through fun practical examples, and teach instrumental technique with a creative approach as well as through grades and reading music. I have a breadth of musical education experience to draw on which means I can tailor lessons to an individual's interests or learning objectives, as well as assessing areas for improvement and development. I have played gigs around Birmingham as a freelance musician in various settings, including in the saxophone sections of big bands, accompanying children as part of a Christmas concert, a madness tribute band and playing in a live band to accompany a cinema screening of a film, amongst other engagements. My own quartet was described by the world renowned saxophonist Mark Turner as 'super killing' during a masterclass at Birmingham Conservatoire. Most recently the band performed as part of Birmingham Jazz's legends festival. Notable venues I have played at include the Spotted Dog, the Adrian Boult Hall and The Yardbird jazz club. - Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? Yes - Do you belong to any professional organisations? I am a member of the Musician's Union.

Perfect! Brilliant lesson with Robbie, I contacted him to analyse a solo, even though we play different instruments. The lesson met all my expectations and more. Super-knowledgeable and enthusiastic, and very approachable. Now I'll be booking a whole set of lessons. Thoroughly recommended!
