About Brian

He started his musical studies at the Reay’s Primary School, by the age of 8 he moved to Madeira Island. He played several instruments such as the violin, piano and guitar at the Conservatory School of Arts S. Vicente. Brian’s journey with the trumpet started at his hometown in Madeira at the Philharmonic Brass Band and since then the trumpet became his main and only instrument. In 2014 he started his trumpet studies at the Conservatory Professional School of Arts in Funchal with professor Manuel Alexandre Andrade. He attended the Erasmus + program “Music Without Frontiers” in Toledo at the Conservatorio de Musica Jacinto Guerrero with Rúben Rullo, attending the school’s brass ensemble and wind orchestra. In 2017 started his graduation at the National Academy of Orchestral Studies in Lisbon directed by teachers Sérgio Charrinho and Rui Mirra, playing in various ensembles, philharmonic bands, academic orchestras, the Madeira Military Brass Band, Madeira Classical Orchestra and the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra. He also attended masterclasses with several trumpet players such as Michael Sachs, Jeroen Berwaerts, Gabór Trakövi, Stephen Mason, Vicente Olmos, James Thompson, Clément Saunier, Sérgio Charrinho, Hugo Alves, Leon Baldesberger, Filipe Coelho, Jorge Almeida, Guido Segers, Tamás Pálfalvi, Omar Tomasoni, Stanislav Masaryk, Eric Aubier, among others. Brian also participated in several internships and masterclasses organised by the Madeira Classical Orchestra, Academic Orchestra of the Conservatory School of Arts Madeira, the Algarve Trumpet Festival, and the Almost6 Trumpet Festival. Brian is currently in his last year of Master studies at the Royal Academy of Music.

About the lesson

Graduated from the National Academy of Advanced Orchestral Studies in Lisbon. Currently my final year of my Master of Arts at the Royal Academy of Music. I also have the LRAM certificate for teaching. My teaching method is a 1 to 1 lesson. To create a good professional relationship with my students and adapt my teaching methods and materials for each student. My lessons are based in technical and musical aspects developed within their repertoire with the end goal for the students achieving their full potential. I teach complete beginners to grade 8, from a professional approach or just for a hobby focusing on classical music or any kind of repertoire. Online lessons are possible as well. I have experience with several online video call applications.
