About James
I am a Master in Music graduate from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland - where I studied for six years. Currently, I am a soloist for Live Music Now and perform as a concert artist. I teach guitar at Richmond Music Trust and Bohunt School. I have enjoyed working with some of the leading guitarists across Europe and maintain close connections with musicians across the UK and abroad. I am currently developing a programme of music to compete in classical guitar competitions internationally. As a tutor, I hold a firm belief in being of service to music. I have maintained a strong rapport with all previous students and work hard to bring access to high quality education to all who work with me.

Lesson structure will vary based on individual goals and ability to practise regularly. I enjoy taking on a coaching role and advise carefully on how to create realistic targets to practise towards. I believe that technique is a vessel for which performance flourishes, and enjoy focusing on both aspects in the lesson.

James is an Artist on the Live Music Now Scotland Scheme joining us in 2023. His musicianship is outstanding and he entered the scheme through a highly competitive audition process. James is self aware, reflective and has engaged audiences brilliantly so far!
James has great experience as a teacher, working in a variety of settings and in a variety of styles designed to suit the students needs.
