About Charleen
Who I Am
Hi! I’m a fully qualified teacher (QTS) currently working in a British Curriculum school. My teaching background is all about being precise and clear—skills I now use to help children master English. As a teacher, I love helping students take their brilliant, creative ideas and turn them into the high-quality writing needed to succeed in national assessments.
Why I Want to Teach Year 6 English
The move from Year 6 to secondary school is a huge step, and I’m here to make it easier. I’m really motivated to help this age group because I believe every child feels more confident when they truly understand how language "works." I want to show students that English isn’t just a school subject; it’s a set of tools that helps them speak and write with real power. My goal is to take the stress out of SATs by making learning feel logical, doable, and—most importantly—rewarding.

The "Structural" Approach
I treat English like architecture. I help students who find literacy abstract by providing logical, visual "blueprints" for academic success.
Deconstruction: We "strip back" complex texts to see exactly how they are built by the author.
Component Building: I break the Year 6 curriculum into manageable parts—focusing on the specific technical "tools" needed to score highly in SATs.
The Sentence Upgrade: We take basic ideas and "engineer" them into high-scoring, sophisticated prose through a step-by-step process.
Lesson Format
Length: 50–60 Minutes (optimised for Year 6 concentration spans).
Structure: High-intensity grammar warm-up ➔ Text analysis ➔ Practical writing "build."
Why Me?
QTS Professional: A fully qualified teacher currently working in a British Curriculum school.
Logical Specialist: I offer a unique, highly organised alternative to traditional English tutoring, focusing on clarity and precision.
Safe & Trusted: Enhanced DBS checked.
Target Audience
Level: Key Stage 2 (Year 6).
Ages: 10–11.
Goal: Strategic SATs preparation, moving students from "Working At" to "Greater Depth."
