About Tamika
Living out of a guitar case for 9 years across the American South taught me that music is all about the room. You probably want to know how to command a crowd when you are just one person with a single instrument. I spent years gigging in Nashville and Austin before I ever thought about teaching.
Open-mic regulars were the ones who kept asking me how I did what I did on stage. My background is entirely self-taught since I rely on my ears and my stage time.
I focus on practical skills like reading tabs and sheet music for intermediate teens and adults. Strumming patterns and smooth chord transitions are the bread and butter of what I play. Maintenance and tuning are just as vital as the notes themselves. I currently live for the sound of a well-played acoustic guitar at the end of a long day.

Your typical session feels like a rehearsal for a sold-out show in a small venue. Music is the only thing that matters once we start playing. We use my 9 years of gigging experience to tackle acoustic technique and songwriting in every single meeting.
I show you how to build a setlist that keeps people listening instead of talking. Because I am self-taught, I explain complex concepts using simple language that makes sense.
You will gain confidence by working on your timing and your ability to navigate the fretboard under pressure. My method discards the academic fluff in favor of what actually works on a stage. I guide you through the tricky parts of song structure until it feels natural. We work through the mechanics of power chords until your hands stop thinking and start moving.
