First and foremost, I'm all about attitude...having a positive attitude towards complex topics is half the battle! We will certainly be learning together, but let's have fun doing it.
A typical lesson looks like this:
1. Diagnostic Assessment / Current Curriculum: I begin by assessing the student's current knowledge and identifying areas of strength and improvement. I also assess what the student is currently learning in their academic curriculum.
2. Conceptual Learning: I break down complex topics into manageable chunks, emphasizing fundamental principles and real-world applications...being an experienced engineer, I have plenty of real world examples.
3. Interactive Exercises: Engaging in interactive exercises and hands-on activities reinforces learning and enhances retention.
4. Practice Problems: Through a variety of practice problems, students solidify their understanding and develop problem-solving skills...getting practice reps in is where the real learning happens!
5. Review and Feedback: I like to take ~5 minutes to provide constructive feedback, and review sessions to address any misconceptions and ensure mastery of the material.
