About Zayd

Hi, I’m Zayd, a software engineer at Capital One with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Michigan State University. My coursework included Calculus I, II and III, Statistics, Data Structures and Algorithms, and Machine Learning, so I’ve used math as a working tool, not just as a school subject.

Teaching isn’t new to me. For a year and a half I was an Undergraduate Learning Assistant at Michigan State, where I mentored more than 500 students. I led lab sessions, reviewed their code, helped them debug, and explained difficult programming concepts until they clicked. That experience taught me how to spot where a student is stuck and how to explain the same idea in more than one way.

I also bring real industry experience. I currently work as a software engineer at Capital One, where I write code every day to build the systems behind one of the largest banks in the country. Before that, I completed two internships at Roblox, where I helped build a multiplayer game prototype and launched a training program to teach game development basics to new creators. During my final year of college, I worked as a backend engineer on a capstone project with Amazon, building AI-powered search tools in Python. I also hold an AWS Cloud Solutions Architect certification.

I’m Zayd, a software engineer with a computer science degree. I teach algebra and Python, and I use what I do every day at work to make both subjects practical. Each lesson starts with the concept, then moves to worked examples and short exercises. Math problems are tied to real situations, and programming lessons build small, working programs so you can see each idea run.
