Hello! My name is Ruiqi S., and I am an academic strategist and exam coach specialising in IGCSE English and IELTS preparation.

About the lesson

My Teaching Methodology & Techniques
My approach is built on active application and mark-scheme decoding, not passive lecturing. Having just achieved straight A*s, I know that memorising a textbook isn't enough—you have to know how to score points.

The Examiner's Lens: I teach students how to read the official Cambridge and IELTS assessment criteria. We dissect past papers line-by-line so they learn exactly what keywords, structures, and sentence varieties examiners require to award top marks.

Targeted Error Logging: We track every mistake made during past-paper practice. Instead of just correcting an answer, we analyse why the mistake happened (e.g., misreading the prompt, time pressure, or structural weakness) to ensure it never happens in the real exam.

Asynchronous Feedback: For writing tasks, I use Google Docs to provide detailed colour-coded feedback before our live sessions, ensuring our face-to-face time is spent entirely on high-impact strategy and active practice.

🕒 Typical Lesson Length
Standard Sessions: 60 minutes per class. This is the optimal duration to maintain high focus while deeply covering one specific macro-skill (such as IELTS Task 2 Writing or IGCSE ESL Listening).

Intensive Prep: Extended 90-minute sessions are available upon request, which are highly recommended for full-length mock paper reviews closer to exam dates.

My Qualifications & Experience
Recent Top Scorer: Achieved straight A*s across 8 IGCSE subjects in the recent May/June 2026 examination series—including 0510/0511 ESL, 0500 First Language English, 0580 Mathematics, and 0606 Additional Mathematics.

IELTS Master: Scored a Band 8.0 on my very first attempt, securing a perfect 9.0 in Listening and an 8.5 in Reading.

Peer Mentor Advantage: Currently an active AS-Level student. While I am a newer formal tutor, my greatest asset is that my knowledge is fresh, completely relevant to the current 2026/2027 syllabi, and delivered from a relatable peer-to-peer perspective that traditional teachers cannot match.
