About Rexana
My name is Rexana and I'm a current student at Stuyvesant High School. I love teaching math and demonstrating topics in fun ways to my students. I am taking a class called Math Team and it has shown me the creativity in math and I hope to show your child that as well!

I teach math using practice problems and examples. I believe this is the best way for students to start recognizing patterns and learn to solve problems themselves.
A typical lesson will involve me first introducing the topic and showing the basic idea behind it (ex: fractions are like pieces of a whole). I will then lead the student to the concept I'm trying to teach them by asking them questions. (ex: do you think 1/2 or 1/4 is bigger?) I'll show them the problem visually and then ask them again. By the end of the lesson, they'll understand the reasoning behind what I'm teaching.
As a student myself, I understand the best way to learn math. Students need to really understand why things are the way they are in order to find any meaning in them.
I currently tutor 3rd-grade math and I am willing to teach all grades from 1-8. If your student wants a tutor for SHSAT math, I'm available for that as well.
