About Weike

Hi, I'm Vanessa, a native Mandarin speaker born and raised in Shanghai, China.
With over 2.5 years of online Chinese teaching experience and a background in translation, I specialize in helping learners use Mandarin confidently in real daily life.

In my spare time, I enjoy hiking, yoga and traveling, and I love talking about Chinese culture and local lifestyles with my students.

I believe the best language learning happens when it's practical, interesting and connected to your real life.

About the lesson

In every class, we follow a proven 3-part structure:
1 Review: 10 minutes of real-scenario dialogue review to lock in what you've learned
2 New content learning: I guide you from words to phrases, then to full sentences using my "snowball method" — you'll master structures naturally without rote memorization
3 Reflection & practice: Interactive games and situational exercises to make sure you can use the language right away

I also add cultural context when relevant, to help you understand not just the language, but also how native speakers use it in daily life. I always adjust my pace and materials based on your absorption level.

Course levels
- Complete beginners: Master 300+ core words, 18 daily topic expressions, and step-by-step Pinyin mastery in 20-25 lessons. You'll be able to have basic daily conversations after finishing this level.
- Lower-intermediate learners: Expand your vocabulary with 300+ new words, improve character recognition and writing, and practice precise expressions for work, travel and social scenarios.

Whether you're starting from zero or looking to improve your conversational fluency, my goal is to help you actually use Chinese in your daily life from day one.
