About Justin
Hi, I'm Justin. I earned an M.S. in physics from the University of Central Florida, studying the interaction between light and matter via single molecule magnets. After ascending to PhD candidacy and spending two years engrossed in research, I realized that academia was not my path, and have since transitioned to education. I have taught at the high school and college levels for 3 years now, and have tutored for 10. My goal each school year is to have students perform at a minimum of one letter grade higher than their previous year's grade on average, carried over from my practice as an independent tutor. I like to watch movies, read non-fiction, cook (not bake, though I highly respect it), and play card games.

For test prep, sessions are structured either as a math lab with paced instruction and frequent quizzing or a mini-mock test scenario followed by discussion regarding results and feedback on positives and negatives of test taking strategies used.
This is aimed toward students who wish to improve on their SAT, ACT, AP tests, or other standardized exams. (Note: I mostly do math and science, but I am open to SAT Reading and Writing).
Traditional tutoring sessions are structured similar to an interactive classroom. Typically, this starts with a brief review and correction of a single homework. After, we quickly review a problem of old topics, which lead into the current one, which is followed by exposure to the new problem. Next, the student engages with the new problem, and we solve it together with the method taught or practiced in the day's lesson. The student will then practice problems alongside the instructor and later independently.
This is aimed toward students who wish to improve their fundamental skills and bump their grades up.
