About Shay
I have 4 years of tutoring experience, teaching students from age 5 to 20. These experiences include private tutoring in high school, tutoring students with learning challenges at Lindamood Bell Learning Academy, and two years of tutoring Northwestern students. I am happy to provide references from my previous clients.
I have always excelled in STEM subjects, graduating from Northwestern University with a double major in Statistics and Chemistry and a minor in Data Science, maintaining a 3.81 GPA. I received a 5 on the following AP tests: Chemistry, BC Calculus, Physics (calculus based), Economics (micro and macro), English Language, Spanish Language, Music Theory, and Computer Science. I will soon begin work as an economic consultant at the country's leading economic consulting firm. But most importantly, I am an effective communicator and always have a laid-back attitude, and will make sure that every tutoring session is fun and enjoyable for your student!

Every student is different with their unique strengths and weaknesses. That is why my tutoring approach changes from student to student. I always start with the basics and work my way up, so I know exactly where the bottleneck in understanding is. I can then tailor the information to fit exactly what the student needs. That could mean doing many walk-through examples, giving the student practice problems, or thinking theoretically about the big picture of the problem.
I am open to in-person tutoring in the West Los Angeles area, but would prefer online tutoring. I have an iPad, a Zoom account, and access to endless practice problems for effective online learning. I would prefer to tutor high school (AP) STEM subjects including statistics, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, physics, and chemistry. However, I am open to tutor other subjects as well, just reach out!
