About Ron | Window Cleaning Business Coach

My strongest skill isn't simply cleaning windows — it's understanding the business around the job.

I've learned how to evaluate jobs, estimate and price them, deal with different types of customers, negotiate without automatically discounting, choose the right equipment, and recognize when a job isn't worth taking.

I believe in doing good work, being fair, and speaking plainly. I don't pretend to know everything. If I don't know the answer, I'll tell you.

What I offer is real-world experience and practical information. If you're thinking about getting into residential window cleaning, you can ask me the questions you really want answered — including the things you may not even know to ask yet.

This isn't just about learning how to clean windows.

These are private Zoom sessions about the BUSINESS of residential window cleaning — the decisions that determine whether you're simply doing work or actually building something profitable.

There is no preset lesson plan. Bring your questions, ideas, a job you're trying to estimate, or simply tell me you're thinking about getting started. We'll focus on the information you actually need.

ESTIMATING, PRICING & BIDDING

An estimate is more than counting windows and giving a price. It's your opportunity to walk the property, understand what the customer expects, identify anything that could cost additional time or create problems, and decide what the job is actually worth.

I'll show you what I look for, how I think through an estimate, and why having a Plan B matters.

Most importantly: don't underbid just to get the job.

Getting a YES doesn't mean you won. If you priced the job wrong, you may have committed yourself to hours of unprofitable work.

Sometimes you hold your price. Sometimes you change the scope. And sometimes the best business decision is to professionally walk away.

CUSTOMERS, CUES & NEGOTIATION

Not every customer thinks the same way.

Some care primarily about price. Others care about trust, convenience, quality, safety, communication, or knowing they won't have to worry about the job.

I'll show you how to listen, ask questions and pay attention to the cues customers give you.

You don't need to fill every moment of silence with a sales pitch. Sometimes saying nothing and listening gives you more information than talking.

And negotiation doesn't automatically mean discounting.

If someone hesitates at your price, find out why. You may need to explain your value, answer a concern, change the scope, hold your position or simply decide this isn't your customer.

The goal isn't to win every customer. It's to make agreements that make sense.

PRESENTATION & TRUST

Your customer starts forming an opinion before you ever touch a window.

How you dress, approach the home, introduce yourself, communicate and carry yourself can affect how a homeowner sees both you and your price.

You don't need to pretend you're a huge company.

You need to look prepared, professional, knowledgeable and like someone the homeowner can comfortably trust around their property.

I'll show you how I approach that first interaction and establish trust without trying too hard to sell myself.

Customer Acquisition

Don't depend entirely on an advertisement and wait for the phone to ring.

I'll share practical, low-cost ways of putting yourself in front of potential customers, recognizing opportunities around existing jobs, and turning good work into repeat business and referrals.

But strategy isn't only about what you DO.

It's also knowing what not to chase.

Not every lead, neighborhood, advertising idea or potential customer deserves your time and money. Learning where to put your effort is part of building a profitable business.

EQUIPMENT & EFFICIENCY

You don't need every piece of window-cleaning equipment you see online.

I'll show you what equipment you actually need to get started, where to find it, what the tools are designed to do, and what purchases can wait.

We'll also discuss working from the ground whenever practical, when ladders may be necessary, and how choosing the right approach can save time.

Equipment is a business investment. If something saves significant time, improves safety or allows you to handle profitable work more efficiently, it may make sense.

If it's just an expensive new toy, it may not.

TIME & PROFIT

Time has to be part of your price.

A job that looks profitable can become a bad job when it takes twice as long as you expected.

I'll show you how I think about time when looking at a job and why you should recognize potential time problems BEFORE giving the customer your number.

And if your approach isn't working efficiently, don't blindly continue doing the same thing.

Reassess.

The solution could be different equipment, a different order of work, a different method, or recognizing that the job simply requires more time and should be priced accordingly.

Being busy and being profitable are not the same thing.

GROWTH & EMPLOYEES

More work doesn't automatically mean you should hire someone.

When you're ready to grow, we'll talk about what makes sense to delegate and how to determine whether another person is actually helping the business become more productive.

An employee who creates more work than they eliminate isn't helping you grow.

Growth needs structure. Otherwise, more customers, more equipment and more employees can simply create more problems.

HOW THE ZOOM SESSIONS WORK

This isn't a get-rich-quick program, and I'm not going to promise you'll make a certain amount of money in a certain number of days.

I'm offering access to practical information and experience.

Bring an estimate you're unsure about.

Bring a customer situation you don't know how to handle.

Bring an equipment question.

Bring an advertising idea.

Bring a pricing problem.

Or simply say:

"I'm thinking about starting a residential window cleaning business. What do I need to know?"

We'll start there.

The purpose of these sessions is simple: help you understand what you're getting into, recognize things you may not have considered, avoid expensive mistakes and make better business decisions.
