About Katie
My name is Katie and I am currently in my third and final year of studying English at the University of York and working on my final dissertation. I have a A* at both GCSE and A level and I have been incredibly passionate about the subject my whole life and would love to share some of my interest by tutoring. I completely understand the pressures of exam stress because I've been there! So, we will make sure to find a method that works best for your child to make the subject accessible and most importantly enjoyable. I have worked with children as a TA and tutor in primary schools and secondary schools and I have a fun and relaxed approach to teaching. My main aim is to find what works best for every individual pupil to make sure my lessons are engaging and fun! I am confident in my tutoring abilities to ensure that your child will reach the level they need to perform at their best ability in reading and writing.

I work on a student led basis to figure out what areas we need to target most. Whether that be essay writing, analysis etc. We can work together to ensure that you learn in the best possible way for you.
The first lesson will be to touch base and figure out a baseline that we are working with. In this we will figure out main strengths and areas of improvement and I will get an idea of what we will need to focus on in the following lessons. I will cater my teaching to your individual needs and make specific lesson plans to ensure that we target specific areas of improvement.
I will also build in review time in these lessons at the beginning and end to check in and reflect on the learning.
I am also happy to work on anything specific that your child brings to the lesson, whether that be homework or anything they feel requires attention, so I am totally flexible to your needs regardless of what has previously been planned as I believe student led teaching will help develop confidence and ensure that your specific needs are being met continuously.
We will work together on writing skills, grammar and confidence and I will provide in depth marking and constructive feedback on any work.
