About Rocío

I am a translator with more than 3 years of translation experience. I am currently working part-time as a linguist for an Australian company while also in the 4th year of the Translation and Interpreting Degree in Vigo. Before starting the career I worked as a private teacher for elementary, ESO and Baccalaureate students for more than 5 years. I have Cambridge C2 level certification and extensive experience with international companies. I also speak German, Portuguese and Swedish with certifications from different universities. I have decided to teach English because, in the remainder of my course and during the master's degree, I prefer contact with people and be able to share my knowledge in a more direct and rewarding way (spending the whole day in front of a worn out computer screen pretty hehe).

About the lesson

I am trained to teach at all levels, however, I have a predilection for teaching at an early age. I have done studies on the acquisition of language skills and the importance of laying the foundations from early childhood. This has allowed me to know the best methodology to teach the little ones so that they learn as if they were immersed in the language and culture and not memorizing or making records. I also put into practice teaching methods that move away from conventional ones. I practice the Montessori methodology and, therefore, the classes are more dynamic and practical than in the traditional classes. In addition, I am a strong advocate of parenting / education with attachment, so my methods are totally respectful of the needs of children, both intellectual and emotional. The classes are adapted to the student, according to their own needs, in addition to being designed to enhance the strengths of each and strengthen those areas where they are less fluent. In the case of adults, I prefer to make an "initial interview" in which we set some goals and see where we start and where we want to reach. The intention is to acquire or improve skills, but we must do so effectively, so planning is essential.
