About Yu

Hello, Before going into the details, here is a summary of what you will be able to discover below as and when:

My name is Yu and I was born in Dalian, a charming city in northeastern China. I have been living in France for a very long time, particularly in Paris since 2005.

Before registering on this platform, I have already taught individual and group classes. I used different media depending on each student's specific needs. As a laureate of traditional Chinese calligraphy, I also conducted courses / workshops focused on this ancient art. Since writing is an important part of learning the Chinese language, it will be interesting to discover it from another angle.

In March 2019, I obtained CELTA, one of the most well-known qualifications for teaching English as a foreign language. This training that I have accomplished in Dublin allowed me to understand how to play a teacher's role in different circumstances. So I am trilingual in French and English. Moreover, my passion for languages has also led me to learn Spanish and Japanese, which I have a beginner level +.

I can offer you individually personalised classes for any level and any age. It is necessary for me to know your expectations from the beginning in order to offer you tailor-made courses. Depending on your preferences and constraints, I will put myself at your disposal in terms of the place of appointment and schedules, knowing that the rates may vary accordingly.

My career is rather atypical. I had worked for 7 years in international business in which my knowledge of the cultural difference between France and China was well put forward. Afterwards, I wanted to take a break. I was a backpacker among others, eager to discover the world. On my return I have made up my mind to become a teacher of languages and yoga (a project still in progress). Regarding my higher education, I did a master degree in environmental engineering in France. And yes, it had nothing to do with my previous job. And yes I did a lot of zigzag which enriched me a lot and made me finally understand what I would like to do later about my life.

About the lesson

-1st meeting: get to know each other, fix the working methods together according to your needs and your expectations and set short and long term objectives
- Typical course of a beginner course (1h): introduce the theme of the day, learn the vocabulary (pronunciation and writing if necessary), make simple conversations (with explanations that refer to the cultural difference if necessary)
-Supports used: we can have a first look at the materials you have. I tend to vary the supports to make the lessons more playful and effective (video on Internet, various books, etc.)

Chloé a une très bonne base en chinois à l'écrit et elle souhaite améliorer son expression orale dans le cadre de son project professionnel. Nous avons donc élaboré un programme ensemble pour perfectionner sa prononciation et sa capacité de s'exprimer en chinois dans les prochains mois. C'est une jeune fille pleine d'enthousiasme et de joie de vivre. J'ai pris beaucoup de plaisir à travailler avec elle.
