About Selena
I work in software engineering, but literature and teaching are one of my many passions. Holding a BA in Philosophy from UBC and a Master’s in Communication from SFU, I live right at the busy intersection of human creativity and technology.
I’m passionate about helping younger students navigate school in a world completely saturated by tech. My goal isn't just to help them learn the language or pass an exam; it's to make sure they build the confidence to form their own original ideas, while still knowing how to use modern tools to work smart and not get left behind.
From helping young ESL kids build their foundation to coaching university students through tough essays, I bring a practical approach to my sessions driven by the students' age and goals.
Outside of work, I'm a runner and a climber. After all, a healthy body fuels a sharp mind.

How We Work (From Basics to Mastery)
Step 1: Core Fundamentals & ESL Literacy
For young learners and ESL students, we build confidence through reading comprehension, grammar, and vocabulary basics.
Step 2: Critical Thinking & Idea Generation
We ask big questions. Before writing, I teach students how to analyze texts, test their own assumptions, and build original ideas and arguments.
Step 3: Structure & Outlining
We map out thoughts before drafting. Students learn how to organize arguments logically and ensure they're sound so every paragraph has a clear purpose.
Step 4: Thesis & Essay Execution
We write, refine, and polish. High school and university students learn to write sharp, persuasive essays and complex research papers.
Step 5: Smart Tool Workflow
For older students, I demonstrate how to use modern digital tools for research and brainstorming without sacrificing their own voice or academic honesty.
Who This Is For
ESL & K-12 Students: Building basic fluency, reading confidence, and core grammar.
High School & University Students: Tackling tough essays, thesis statements, and critical analysis.
Professionals: Refining business writing and clear communication.
