About Tawonga

I am a persistent, growth-minded individual who genuinely believes that the summit is always better reached together than by yourself. My drive to tutor comes from a deep desire to bring the best out of people and help them unlock their full potential.

Throughout my academic journey, I have always been the person stepping up to help peers—whether that meant breaking down complex assignment briefs, sharing effective study techniques, or untangling difficult concepts, all while maintaining my own strong academic record in a demanding field.

I am incredibly eager to learn, and I am entirely comfortable being wrong, because I view every single mistake as a vital opportunity for growth. I bring this exact philosophy into my tutoring. I’m not just here to pass on information; I’m here to partner with you, navigate the challenges together, and ensure you stand confidently at the top of your academic goals.

About the lesson

I am a hands-on, highly persistent tutor. I don’t believe in just giving you the answers or letting you stare at a blank page. Instead, we dive straight into problem-solving together. At the same time, I intentionally create a low-pressure environment where it is completely safe to make mistakes because often this is where real growth happens. I bring the rigorous, logical mindset of a UCT Mechanical Engineer, but combine it with the patience you need to build genuine confidence.

What to Expect From a Typical Lesson

Active Problem Solving:
We won't just read through notes. We will actively tackle past exam questions and complex problems from minute one.

Interactive Whiteboard:
I use a dual-device online setup (laptop and tablet). You will see me map out calculations, diagrams, and formulas in real-time, making online learning feel entirely hands-on.

Actionable Takeaways:
You will leave every single session with a clear understanding of how to approach similar exam questions independently.

Concept Breakdowns:
Wherever there is a logical gap, which causes you to get stuck, we pause, re-evaluate and target the concept down to its fundamentals.

Who My Lessons Are Aimed At

Cambridge, IEB, and NSC Students: High schoolers targeting top marks or struggling to bridge the gap in O-Level, AS-Level, A-Level, or Matric Mathematics and Chemistry.

First-Year University Students: UCT (or other university) peers who are feeling overwhelmed by first-year Calculus or Engineering Chemistry (CEM1008F) and need a reliable guide to pull their grades up.

Languages
English: Fully proficient. All lessons, explanations, and technical materials are delivered clearly in English.
