About Lucy

, I’m Lucy Haslam, a recent A-Level student who achieved four A grades and will be studying Economics at Durham University, which is ranked 3rd in England in 2026.

My main tutoring strengths are A-Level Maths and Economics, alongside Physics, which I also studied at A-Level. I am also able to tutor a wide range of GCSE subjects. At GCSE, I achieved nine grades 8–9, including seven grade 9s, with grade 9s in all of my sciences and English.

I want to tutor because I know that sometimes the difference between understanding a topic and mastering it is simply having someone explain it in a way that clicks for you. You may understand 80% of a topic but struggle with the remaining 20% — and that final gap can make a huge difference to your confidence and exam performance.

Having recently been a student myself, I understand the pressures of GCSEs and A-Levels and how easy it can be to feel stuck on a particular topic or unsure about how to revise effectively. I want to provide the support, encouragement and individual attention that can help students turn those difficult areas into their strengths.

I have experience teaching both younger students and my peers, and I aim to create a tutoring environment that is friendly, approachable and completely judgement-free. At the same time, I will make sure students are challenged academically and encouraged to reach their full potential.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each student’s individual needs, combining my recent A-Level experience with a clear focus on building confidence, strengthening understanding, and developing effective exam technique.

I aim to make every lesson engaging, supportive, and approachable. I adapt my teaching style to suit how each student learns best, whether through visual explanations, worked examples, practical problem-solving, discussion, or exam-style questions.

Rather than simply giving students the answers, I encourage them to understand why something works, helping them develop the skills and confidence to tackle unfamiliar questions independently.

My goal is for every student to leave each lesson feeling that they have genuinely made progress — with greater confidence in their abilities, a clearer understanding of the subject, and better preparation for their exams.
