About Mahia
About Me
I am a first-year Pharmacy student at the University of Hertfordshire, with a strong academic background and a genuine passion for education. I successfully completed 9 GCSEs and 3 A-Levels and am now building on my scientific knowledge through my Pharmacy degree.
I offer tutoring in GCSE English, Maths and Science, as well as A-Level Biology and Chemistry. My current university studies have strengthened my understanding of Biology and Chemistry and have also developed my ability to approach complex information logically, break it down into manageable concepts and communicate it clearly.
Having recently completed my own GCSEs and A-Levels, I understand the expectations of the current education system and the challenges students can face when preparing for exams. I believe that effective tutoring should go beyond simply providing answers. My aim is to help students understand "why" something works, develop effective study and revision techniques, and gain the confidence to tackle questions independently.
I take a patient, structured and personalised approach to tutoring. Every student has different strengths, weaknesses and learning preferences, so I adapt my explanations and teaching methods to suit the individual. Whether a student needs support with the fundamentals, is working towards a particular grade or wants to challenge themselves and reach their full potential, I aim to make each session focused, engaging and productive.
Why I Want to Be a Tutor
I want to tutor because I genuinely enjoy helping others overcome academic challenges and experience that moment when a difficult concept finally becomes clear. I understand how frustrating it can be when you know you are capable of doing well but are struggling to understand a particular topic or approach exam questions effectively.
I want to provide students with the kind of support that helps them become more confident in their abilities. I believe that academic ability is not simply about being naturally "good" at a subject; with the right explanation, consistent practice and effective guidance, students can make significant progress.
As someone who has recently gone through GCSEs and A-Levels and is now studying at university, I can offer both an approachable perspective and practical academic guidance. I can support students not only with subject knowledge, but also with revision strategies, exam technique, organisation and confidence.
My goal is for every student to finish a session feeling more confident than when they started, with a clearer understanding of the subject and a practical plan for how to improve. Ultimately, I want to help students achieve the grades they are capable of while developing the independence and confidence that will benefit them throughout their education.

I don’t believe there is one “right” way to learn. Every student is different, so I adapt my teaching to how they learn best. My lessons are personal, encouraging and focused on understanding rather than memorising. I break challenging ideas into simple steps, encourage questions and use mistakes as opportunities to learn. My aim is not only to improve results, but to build the confidence to tackle problems independently.
Lessons are typically 60 minutes, aimed at students ages 14-19. With 3 years experience in teaching at GCSE level and 1 year experience in teaching at A-Level. I bring both subject knowledge and a genuine passion for helping students progress.
For me, the best moment is when “I can’t do this” becomes “I understand it now.”
