About Aria

I am a Bachelor of Science student at the University of Auckland who is deeply committed to helping students reach their full academic potential. Having completed both Cambridge O-Levels and A-Levels, I understand the discipline, consistency and mindset required to excel. I build strong bonds with my students and always put their learning first, creating an environment where they feel supported yet challenged to grow. I hold myself to high academic standards, and this is reflected in the expectations I set for my students. I guide them firmly but fairly — offering encouragement and rewards when they perform well, and providing honest, constructive correction when needed. Teaching is meaningful to me because I believe every student is capable of improvement with the right guidance, structure and belief in their abilities.

I’ve been tutoring for several years. I have two years of paid tutoring experience, along with three years of voluntary tutoring for younger students during high school years. Working with students of different ages and abilities — including those with special learning needs — has taught me how to adapt my teaching style to meet each learner where they are.

I specialize in helping students who are struggling or have lost confidence in their subjects. Last year, my students who were previously finding it difficult to even pass their NCEA subjects made remarkable progress — they achieved ideal grades and successfully entered university (UoA and Unitec). Seeing their growth reinforced my belief that every student can improve with the right guidance, consistency, and encouragement.

I’m committed to creating a supportive but structured learning environment where students feel safe to ask questions, make mistakes, and build strong foundations. My goal is not just to teach content, but to help students develop the mindset, discipline, and study habits that will support them long-term.

About the lesson

I provide structured, tailored lessons in English, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics for high school students. My approach focuses on building strong foundations, deepening conceptual understanding through clear explanations, step‑by‑step problem‑solving, and personalized guidance. I adapt each lesson to the student’s learning style, pace and goals, ensuring steady progress and confidence in the subject. I also teach effective study techniques and exam strategies, helping students develop the mindset, methods and knowledge needed to excel. Lessons typically include concept breakdowns, guided practice, and targeted feedback to strengthen analytical and critical‑thinking skills.

My lessons usually range from one and a half to two hours, depending on each student’s needs and comfort level. During exam periods, I often extend lesson time to ensure students feel fully prepared. I have completed both Cambridge O‑Levels and A‑Levels, giving me firsthand understanding of the rigour and discipline required to achieve strong academic results. I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science at the University of Auckland, majoring in Computer Science and Information Systems Technology Management.

Most of my students are upper‑year high school learners preparing for university entry, including those who have previously struggled or been considered “hopeless cases.” I firmly believe every student is capable of improvement with the right guidance and support. I also tutor younger students, focusing on building strong foundational skills that promote long‑term academic growth and confidence. My teaching is structured, methodical and student‑centred, with an emphasis on clarity, conceptual mastery and steady progress.

Over the years of studying and teaching, I’ve built an extensive set of study notes, worked examples, practice questions and revision resources that I use to support my students. These materials help me break down complex concepts, provide step‑by‑step guidance and clear explanations, and offer additional practice tailored to each student’s needs. Supplementary notes, resources and extra practice are a standard part of my tutoring approach and are provided during lessons.
