About Kell
I’m a University of Bristol English Literature graduate. English was always my favourite subject for as long as I can remember. I’m currently working on a collection of stories and a record of songs. Tutoring gives me the opportunity to both help others and scratch that academic itch.

Every student learns in a slightly different way, first we can find out what that is! Do you prefer a teacher to lead entirely, I can lead the way. Other students are very aware of what they struggle with, then the tutor can be a crutch to lean on only at the particularly challenging moments. Clear goals are very helpful to get the most out of our time together. Do you need a general overview of a text you are studying? The whole spirit of a text can sometimes click by appreciating it from a new angle. Maybe you just want to pass an exam, that’s fine too. I’d hope to instil an organic understanding of the text, this can often fire a student into the higher marks more consistently, but of course we can focus on mark schemes! Maybe a certain text in the syllabus is proving a bugbear, ‘Oh if that comes up in the exam I’m _______’. We can fill in those blind spots. Or, a particular aspect of analysis, e.g. an author’s use of tone or sentence structure for effect, is evading you. Simply carefully reading through a specific passage together with someone more experienced can be the key to understanding the way an author approaches the whole text. It’s also very enjoyable to do.
