About FORTUNE

I’m Fortune Kufahakutizwi, a Mechanical Engineering student at the University of Johannesburg. I chose to become a tutor because I remember how challenging subjects like Mathematics and Physical Science can be. I want to help students like you overcome those challenges by explaining things clearly and patiently, just like I wish someone had done for me. Having recently completed my own schooling with a Bachelor’s pass and currently studying a demanding engineering degree, I’m confident in my knowledge and ability to guide you effectively. Teaching gives me the chance to make a real difference in how students understand and feel about these subjects, and that’s something I’m truly passionate about.

About the lesson

Hello, I'm Fortune, a 19-year-old University of Johannesburg student studying mechanical engineering. I understand what it's like to sit in class and try to follow along while secretly feeling uncertain or lost. I've been there. In order to be the kind of person I once needed, someone who explains things clearly, patiently, and in a way that finally makes sense—I made the decision to start tutoring.

I keep things simple, calm, and relatable. I take time to understand where you’re struggling and then guide you through the topic step by step. I use real-world examples and exam-style questions to make sure the work sticks. There’s no rushing, no pressure, and no judgment. Just support, encouragement, and learning at your pace.

Because I’ve been through the same school system recently, I know how today’s curriculum works. I understand the stress of exams, the fear of falling behind, and the importance of getting it right. I bring a friendly, peer-based approach to each session, I don’t just teach like a tutor, I connect like a fellow student who gets it.

I offer lessons in English, which is my main teaching language.

Every lesson starts with a quick check-in to see how you’re feeling about your progress and where you’d like support. I’ll explain tricky topics clearly and simply, guide you through examples, and give you time to practise with real questions. I’ll also share tips for studying, exam strategies, and ways to stay focused without feeling overwhelmed. And if you ever have questions between lessons, you’re welcome to reach out.

I believe in creating a relaxed, respectful space where you’re free to ask anything — no matter how small it may seem.

I tutor high school students from Grade 8 to 12 in Mathematics and Physical Science. My lessons are perfect for students who are preparing for tests or exams, working to improve their marks, or just need someone patient and supportive to help them through challenging topics.
