About Isabela Zanon
A University of Maryland graduate, I have extensive background in physics and math. I have worked at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, NASA, and labs at the University, all adding to my real-world science experience. As a current education master's student, I am passionate about inspiring others to approach STEM with curiosity and wonder.
As your tutor, I am committed to creating a supportive, patient, and professional learning environment. I take the time to understand each student's individual needs and adapt my explanations to make difficult concepts easier to understand.
I believe that asking questions is an essential part of learning, and I encourage students to work through problems without fear of making mistakes. My goal is not only to help you find the right answer, but also to develop your understanding, confidence, and ability to solve problems independently.

My goal as a tutor is to make mathematics and physics easier to understand by breaking difficult concepts into clear, manageable steps. I believe students learn best when they understand why something works, rather than simply memorizing formulas or procedures. I want to make physics fun and interesting!
I adapt my explanations to each student's level, learning style, and goals. During lessons, I use examples, visual explanations, diagrams, guided problem-solving, and practice exercises to help students build confidence and develop strong problem-solving skills.
I also encourage students to ask questions and make mistakes. Mistakes are an important part of learning, and I use them as opportunities to identify gaps in understanding and strengthen the student's reasoning.
A typical lesson begins by identifying what the student already understands and what they are having difficulty with. We then review the relevant concepts before working through examples together.
After explaining the material, I guide the student through progressively more challenging problems, gradually giving them more independence. We finish by reviewing the main ideas, identifying anything that still needs practice, and making sure the student understands how to approach similar problems on their own.
Lessons can be adapted depending on the student's needs, whether they are preparing for an exam, completing coursework, catching up on difficult material, or simply trying to become more confident in mathematics or physics.
What I value most as a tutor is patience, clarity, and adaptability. I don't believe there is only one way to explain a concept. If a student doesn't understand something the first time, I try a different explanation, example, or way of approaching the problem.
I aim to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel able to ask questions without feeling judged. My objective is not only to help students get the correct answer, but to help them develop the reasoning and confidence needed to solve problems independently.
I offer support in mathematics and physics for students who want to strengthen their understanding, improve their problem-solving skills, prepare for assessments, or receive additional help with challenging topics.
Lessons can be adapted to the student's academic level, from foundational material through more advanced coursework. I can work with students who need to review the basics as well as students looking for additional practice and challenge.
Whether a student is struggling with a particular topic or simply wants to become more confident in math or physics, I tailor each lesson to their individual needs and goals.
