About Harry
I am patient, considerate of different learning needs and enjoy helping younger minds progress. My focus is to tailor lessons in a way so that struggling students can grasp and understand certain topics and techniques. I like to try to make lessons fun and memorable and I am committed to understanding how every pupil learns, ensuring that lessons are adapted to individual interests. I am very committed to thorough advanced preparation before each lesson and don't rely on schemes of work for my structure.
As a person, I am relaxed, empathetic and enjoy finding out more about people. However, I will always ensure that students will make the best use of the time that has been paid for and that they engage with the session properly.

For GCSE students:
. I would use explicit teaching: modelling and developing the key skills needed to respond to different question types such as retrieval, inference and those driven by vocabulary.
. I would break down essay structure into its component parts, practising and revising key elements to improve fluency and maximise potential extra marks.
For younger students (KS3):
. I would conduct a baseline assessment of their writing ability and vocabulary knowledge, focusing my interventions on areas which are particularly weak e.g. comprehension, sentence structure, overall spelling and correct use of vocabulary.
For younger students: 30 minutes - 1 hour
For older students: 1 hour
