About Maia

With over 14 years of tutoring experience, I specialize in teaching piano to students from school to college level. My passion for music and education drives me to create engaging, personalized learning experiences that cater to each student’s unique goals and interests. I believe that music is a powerful form of expression, and I strive to cultivate a love for the piano in every lesson.

My teaching style emphasizes a blend of **structured learning and creative exploration**. I use innovative methods, such as incorporating technology and interactive software, to make lessons dynamic and fun. This includes utilizing apps for ear training, rhythm exercises, and digital sheet music that help students visualize their progress. I also encourage improvisation and composition, allowing students to develop their musical voice alongside traditional techniques.

I focus on building a solid foundation in music theory, technique, and repertoire while adapting to each student’s pace. My goal is not only to teach students how to play the piano but also to inspire them to appreciate the beauty of music and develop their own creative expression. Let’s embark on this musical journey together!

About the lesson

My teaching approach for piano is centered around five key principles: **Communication, Empathy, Collaboration, Integrity,** and **Creativity**.

1. **Communication**: I believe in fostering open dialogue with my students. By actively listening to their goals and challenges, I ensure that our lessons are tailored to their individual needs and aspirations. Clear communication helps demystify complex concepts, making learning more accessible.

2. **Empathy**: Understanding each student’s unique background and emotional journey is vital. I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable expressing their struggles and triumphs, allowing them to build confidence in their playing.

3. **Collaboration**: I encourage students to engage in collaborative learning experiences. This includes peer performances and group discussions, which enhance their understanding of music and foster a sense of community.

4. **Integrity**: I uphold honesty and transparency in my teaching. I set realistic expectations and provide constructive feedback, ensuring that students have a clear understanding of their progress.

5. **Creativity**: I incorporate various musical styles and techniques, allowing students to explore their creativity while mastering the piano. This approach not only keeps lessons engaging but also helps students develop their unique musical voices.

Through this methodology, I strive to create a dynamic and enriching learning experience that inspires a lifelong passion for music.
