About Malisha

I have been singing all my life, since I have ever been physically capable of doing so. Since a very young age, I have been involved in professional vocal training and performance. In my childhood I was part of the Canadian Children's Opera Company where I received professional, rigorous vocal and music theory training. I also have had ample experience performing in musicals, operas, and operettas, across a variety of large venues and theaters in Toronto. Throughout high school, I was a Senior Voice student at the Royal Conservatory of Music's prestigious pre-college program, where I received training and education in vocal technique, acting, language diction, music theory, and many other music disciplines. To this day I am continuing my vocal and music theory studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music, currently having obtained a Level 10 in Harmony & Counterpoint. Although the majority of my vocal training was focused on classical music and opera, personally I sing pieces from a variety of genres, including, but not limited to opera, musical theater, and pop.

About the lesson

The lessons I offer are structured in a way that allows students to build their knowledge and skills in a professional and sustainable way. A typical lesson starts with breath-work exercises, moving on to singing technique, which then transitions into the study of a song of the student's choice, which they learn by taking apart the different components of singing, and mastering them individually, before combining everything together. My diverse singing experience allows students to explore a variety of genres through my lessons, as well as experience singing in different languages. My knowledge and proficiency in six different languages provides the opportunity for my students to learn songs in several languages, one of which could happen to be their native tongue. I would recommend my lessons to anyone who is just starting to explore the world of singing, and is fairly new to taking singing lessons. My lessons are also mostly intended for amateur singers, who do not intend to do vocal performance as a professional career, but are rather exploring singing as a hobby.
