About Tom
I am about to be a graduate from the University of Portsmouth with my focus being Biochemistry and from a young age I have been playing chess competitively and recreationally. I have a passion for the game and want to inspire new players, young and old, to play this beautiful game of tactics and wit. Chess is not just a fun game to play, it can also be applied to the real world as it improves focus and decision making skills essential in life. Learn to play this 1000 year old game with me and be able to challenge people to a good game of chess within a few lessons.

Hands on teaching as I like my students to do as they learn. Will allow mistakes in play to happen so I explain where they went wrong. Taught children aged 6-13 beginner chess but also have experience teaching adults. Lessons range from beginner to beginner/intermediate. All about getting someone in a position to play a full game of decent chess. Lessons can range from 1-3 hours and are very flexible. Once basics are covered lessons can be flexible on what student wants to learn.
