About Candace

I’m an experienced language learner and teacher who has helped many students progress quickly and confidently in their studies. Over the years, I’ve developed a teaching approach that combines structure with creativity, ensuring that lessons are both effective and enjoyable. I believe that learning a language should never feel intimidating or mechanical — it should feel like discovering a new way of thinking, a new rhythm of communication, and even a new way of seeing the world. Because I’ve learned several languages myself, I know what it’s like to start from scratch and face all the small challenges that come with it — struggling to remember vocabulary, trying to make sense of grammar rules that don’t exist in your native language, or feeling nervous about speaking aloud. Having gone through these stages, I’m very aware of how important encouragement, patience, and the right teaching methods are. I use that awareness in my lessons, adapting my approach to each student’s personality, goals, and pace of learning. My background as both a learner and a teacher allows me to anticipate difficulties before they arise and to offer clear, practical explanations that truly make sense. I focus on helping students build a foundation of confidence from the very beginning, so that they can use French naturally in real conversations. Whether a student’s aim is to achieve fluency, pass an exam, or simply enjoy learning a new skill, I make sure every session moves them closer to that goal. I also believe strongly in the power of cultural context. Language is not only about words — it’s about history, identity, and connection. In my lessons, I often include cultural insights, idiomatic expressions, and examples from French literature, film, or everyday life. This helps students understand not only how to speak French but also why French speakers express themselves the way they do. Most importantly, I view language learning as a journey that can change the way we relate to others and to ourselves. My aim as a teacher is to make that journey rewarding, empowering, and full of small victories along the way.
