About Jessica

I have a diverse background in education. With formal teaching experience in the public school system, as well as expertise gained from working at a zoo, a 4-H center, a state park, and a college, I can make difficult concepts easy to understand and engaging. My background allows for a well-rounded approach to learning, incorporating real-world examples and practical applications. My mission is to make science exciting for all learners, and I am dedicated to helping students grasp complex scientific concepts and improve their academic performance. My expertise has helped students earn full-ride scholarships and gain acceptance into prestigious programs, including Princeton University and the Yale Young Global Scholars summer program. With a proven track record of success, I am committed to empowering students to excel and achieve their goals.

About the lesson

With over two decades of experience in teaching, mentoring, and tutoring, I can help your child succeed. I offer personalized tutoring, test prep, and homework help for Environmental Science (college level, AP, and on-level), Biology (college level, AP, honors, and on-level), and Life Science.

As a teacher, I consistently helped my students earn top scores on the biology state test and the AP Environmental Science exam (example below). High state test and AP scores show colleges that students are ready and make students more competitive when applying, especially for scholarships. My goal is to help your student succeed. I look forward to working with you to help your student reach their potential.

• AP Environmental Science Excellence (Crawford County High School; a rural Title I school): Achieved a 90.9% pass rate on the 2023 AP Environmental Science Exam (global pass rate: 52.9%), with 82% of my students earning a 4 or 5. In my first year (2021) teaching the course, I attained an 80% pass rate with 60% scoring a 4. The percentage of students who passed their AP exams at Crawford High School from 2019 and 2020 was 19.5, so enabling 80 percent of my students to pass during my first year at Crawford illustrates my ability to help students excel.
