About Kayla
I am a piano tutor with ten years of experience and a Bachelor of Music in Theory and Composition with a piano emphasis. I also work as a composer and performer, which keeps me connected to the creative side of music. For me, music is a lifelong journey of discovery and growth. I love helping students create unique improvisational pieces and develop spontaneous composition skills. My lessons are designed to nurture your creativity while building solid technical foundations. We explore different musical ideas and learn how to develop them into complete works. I work with both beginners taking their first steps and advanced musicians refining their craft. My teaching is patient and encouraging, allowing you to progress at your own pace. I believe that every student has a unique musical voice waiting to be discovered. My teaching methodology focuses on developing strong auditory skills that make you a more intuitive musician. We will work on ear training for pianists, learning to identify chords, melodies, and rhythms just by listening. I help you recognize musical patterns without relying on sheet music all the time. This skill is essential for playing by ear and improvising with confidence. We use practical exercises that train your ear to pick up on subtle details in any song. You will learn to transcribe music you hear and play it back accurately. This approach is valuable for students who want to compose or produce their own music. I support learners in building a strong connection between their ears and their fingers. My lessons are suitable for all levels, from beginners to advanced players. You will become more independent as a musician, able to learn songs quickly and play with greater freedom. My goal is to help you become a well rounded pianist who trusts their ears.
