About Koa
I have over 10 years of experience as a singing tutor and hold a Licentiate of Music in Voice. I specialize in working with adult beginners, hobbyists, and those returning to singing after a break. My teaching style is gentle and encouraging, creating a low-pressure space where you can feel comfortable and confident. I focus on breathwork, vocal relaxation, posture, and mindfulness to help you develop a healthy, strong voice. Tone development is a key part of my lessons, and I tailor exercises to suit your unique voice. I teach a range of genres including Jazz, Folk, Blues, and Contemporary Adult styles. My passion is helping people discover singing as a form of self-care, creativity, and confidence-building. Whether you want to sing for fun or grow your skills, I’m here to support you every step of the way. No matter your age or experience, it’s never too late to start or restart your singing journey. Let’s explore your voice together and enjoy the joy singing can bring to your life.

My singing approach is designed to help students prepare confidently for auditions and build a strong vocal portfolio. For The Music Major, I focus on selecting songs that showcase technical skill and emotional depth. For The Suzuki Student, I choose pieces that match their vocal tone and encourage steady progress. Both personas work on controlled dynamics to express feeling and keep the audience engaged.
Vocal agility exercises are key for developing flexibility and precision in singing. We also practice mock auditions to build confidence and reduce stage nerves. I encourage exploring different genres to widen your vocal range and adaptability. Using backing track apps helps students practice timing and pitch at their own pace.
Lyric trainers improve memorization and interpretation. Pitch analyzers give immediate feedback, helping you stay on note and improve intonation. This practical approach makes preparation efficient and effective. Together, we build the skills and confidence needed to shine in auditions and performances.
