About Poppy
I have obtained my grade 8 in violin, viola, bass guitar and singing. I also have years of experience in singing in choirs and playing in orchestras and bands, which has developed my ability to sight read and understand musical terminology. I got a distinction in grade 5 theory though have developed my understanding of theory further by studying music as an A level. Other students I have taught have gone on to also obtain their grade 5 theory and GCSE in music, achieving grades such as 7s and 8s.

My teaching style is very much based on practical experience. Each lesson I will set many sample and past paper questions after explaining a topic. However, it is vitally important that students also try to engage in regular instrumental practise each week as regularly reading music will enhance the player’s ability to understand a score. However, I clearly explain topics and concepts that are needed for reading music and engage with my students through questions and discussions.
