About MARK
Hello. It's good to meet you. We'll get to know each other as we focus upon your writing. Being a writer requires that you develop both your writing skills and voice. I have used many writing prompts and exercises over the years with my students that have helped them grow as writers. I like helping others become better writers of the English language.

I begin by assessing the student's goals and skills and collaboratively develop with them a learning plan. Lessons are based upon the student's learning plan, which is a living document, capable of changing as the need arises. I have been a classroom teacher, tutor, coach, and advisor for over 40 years. Listening to and responding supportively to students is my number one priority. I teach all levels and genres of writing, from the analytical essay to the poem, from the research paper to the short story, from writing exercises to a screenplay or memoir. My experiences as a writer, editor, and publisher inform my teaching. I believe in working hard, but also having fun. The two can co-exist; in fact, when you are having fun learning you naturally learn more because you are enjoying it.
