About Eleni

Hello! I am an undergraduate student at Yale University studying mathematics. I've attended numerous math summer programs such as Canada/USA Mathcamp, and I've been studying college-level mathematics for the past 5 years. I've taught enrichment math classes online for the past 3 years to students seeking to supplement their traditional learning by studying math outside of the school curriculum. I love working with students and helping guide them to improve.

Other than math, I'm interested in physics, women and gender studies, and history. Outside of academics, I love to play the violin, do art (drawing, painting, photography, you name it!), do computer programming, crochet, do woodworking, and play with my cats.

About the lesson

Who I teach:
- high school or college students looking to improve their skills and understanding in math
- students seeking to improve their scores/grades in classes or standardized tests
- students of any grade (elementary, middle, high school, or college!) looking to explore math on their own outside the classroom

What I teach:
- all levels of math seen in grade school, particularly arithmetic, algebra, geometry, precalculus
- college mathematics: calculus, multivariable calculus, linear algebra

My philosophy:
I've been teaching math for the past three years, and I love helping students grow. As a tutor, I focus on making learning a positive experience by including real-world examples and encouraging students to learn in ways that are the most helpful for them. Too often I see students are discouraged in math due to poorly taught classes or discouraging teachers. I aim to create a welcoming space where students can explore math and challenge themselves.

Typical lessons include explanation of the topic, worked examples and real-world applications, and time focusing on the student's specific needs such as reviewing difficult topics, working through tricky problem, etc.
