About Mitchell

I am a 25 year accounting professor with experience mentoring over 1,000 students. In addition to teaching as a professor, I specialize in college consulting for high school and early college students. I guide students through the admissions process, helping them select the right colleges, craft strong applications, and develop the soft skills—like communication, time management, and resilience—that are essential for thriving as a freshman. My experience also includes mentoring undergraduate college students as they prepare for graduate school. My background also includes extensive career advising. I work with students and professionals on resume evaluation, interview preparation, and career planning, ensuring they present themselves effectively and make informed choices about their future. Whether you’re preparing for the CPA exam, applying to college, or planning your career, I bring a structured, supportive approach that connects theory to practice and helps you achieve your goals.

About the lesson

Choosing the right college is one of the most important decisions a student will make, with lasting academic, professional, and personal impact. My role is to help students and families navigate this process with clarity and confidence.

I bring decades of experience in higher education—both inside and outside the classroom. Unlike traditional guidance counselors, I offer the perspective of someone who has spent thousands of hours on college campuses, teaching, advising, and observing what truly helps students thrive.

I specialize in; Guiding students through college selection and admissions strategy, preparing the essay and interview preparation, Helping identify majors that align with strengths, interests, and long-term goals; Preparing students with the “soft skills” needed to transition smoothly to campus life once a college has been selected, and Offering actionable insight that goes beyond standard counseling to ensure long-term success.

My goal is simple: to help students not only choose the right college and major, but also arrive prepared to make the most of their experience and achieve lasting success.

This first lesson offered with Mitchell will allow you to get to know each other and clearly specify your needs for your next lessons.

Details

Rate $65 per hour. All billing is hourly. I can answer any questions about my style and our fit via email before our meeting.

First meeting should be conducted and paid through the superprof platform. Upon mutual agreement, subsequent meetings can take place off of the platform. If we agree to meet off of the platform, payment would be expected via Venmo. Payment is due at or before the start of the scheduled meeting.

For complex topics, additional preparation time may be billed outside of the meeting to review or prepare documents. These rates will be agreed on upfront before they are billed/work performed, and paid as services are rendered.

Lessons should be purchased on a per lesson basis. Please do not purchase multi-lesson packages in advance.

The free 30 minute session is NOT a formal session. It is strictly an informational session to learn about the services I provide so that we can mutually decide if we wish to work together in the future. A potential client should not expect any formal service or advising take place during this meeting.

Though I provide you the best advice I feel I can, I offer no warranties or assume no liability for any future outcomes on your college search or success. Students are liable for their own outcomes.
