About Benjamin

I am Benjamin Tung but many call me Ben.
I want to teach math as it is the most interesting and my most advanced subject and teaching would be good work experience.

I have many qualifications such as being highly educated in algebra, geometry, trigonometry and other basic branches of math while I also know a bit of differential and integral calculus. This is evident in my A’s and me being in the top year 9 math class of my school, Fort Street High School (came 20th in HSC). Furthermore, I currently possess 2 distinctions in the AMC. I am also disciplined and focused in school as my teachers say which is translated into other tasks.

In terms of teaching experience, I do not possess a lot. The best is me teaching my friends. However, I do have a lot of experience in babysitting children aged 5-10. Which could benefit teaching as I know how to keep them engaged.

For hobbies I excel in many non-sport extracurriculars, primarily related to chess and saxophone. I also have done volunteer work as my family and I recently went down to Taree to help fix damages from the flood.

About the lesson

My method to teach would be to make a casual friendly relationship with my student so that if they do not understand something, they will come to me. I would also try to find and strengthen weaknesses of knowledge in my student and teach what is being taught at their school. This would also mean that classes of fewer students are preferred. However, despite my casual relationship, I may still set homework in areas where my student is weak.

I would teach for about 45 to 1hr 15 minutes, before the students lose focus and then if possible, teach another class.

I am a year 9 student who has many qualifications such as being highly qualified in geometry, trigonometry, algebra and more. While I also know a bit of differential and integral calculus. Furthermore, I get A’s in math while also being in the top math class of Fort Street High School (came 20th in HSC).

Unfortunately, the most experience I have in tutoring is teaching my friends (I do not have a younger sibling). However, I do have a lot of experience in babysitting. I make time with children aged 5-10 fun for them, keeping them engaged and giving their parents a break. This would go with my belief of a friendly teaching relationship.

With my qualifications, I believe I would be a suitable teacher for students of year 6 or below.
