About Autumn
With 17 years of tutoring experience in Chess, I have had the privilege of teaching over 300 students of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced players. My approach combines strategic thinking, problem-solving, and real-life examples to make learning both effective and enjoyable. I focus on building a strong foundation in openings, middlegame tactics, endgame techniques, and overall game strategy, while also encouraging creativity and critical thinking through interactive exercises.
My teaching philosophy is simple: every student can improve and enjoy Chess when lessons are tailored to their goals and learning style. I emphasize integrity, fair play, and patience, helping students not only become better players but also develop confidence and discipline. I use case studies from famous games, puzzles, and live practice sessions to illustrate strategies and improve decision-making skills under pressure.
Over the years, I have successfully prepared students for tournaments and competitions, many of whom have achieved excellent results. I also introduce students to other strategy games such as Backgammon, Risk, Checkers, and Settlers of Catan to enhance analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
I am passionate about creating a supportive and motivating environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions, make mistakes, and learn from them. Every session is designed to inspire growth, strengthen skills, and foster a genuine love for Chess. I cover openings, middlegame tactics, endgame techniques, and advanced strategies while also exploring related games like Backgammon, Risk, Checkers, and Settlers of Catan to enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Integrity and fair play are central to my lessons. I emphasize ethical competition and respect for opponents, helping students develop both skill and character. Flexibility is key—I adapt my teaching to each student’s level and learning style, whether a beginner, intermediate, or advanced player. Problem-solving exercises are integrated into every session, training students to anticipate moves, plan ahead, and make smart decisions under pressure.
I encourage interactive practice through live games, puzzles, and tournament simulations to reinforce learning.
