About Donovan
"Music should be difficult to put down. Most people assume that great playing requires endless hours of mindless repetition.
I prefer a groove-focused approach that keeps you engaged. After working with 173 students over 13 years, I know that progress happens when technique meets personal taste. My University of Otago Diploma in Music Performance informs how I break down fingerpicking and rhythm guitar.
Scales and modes become tools for expression rather than just chores. Electric technique and chord transitions round out the package. Watching a student master a song they love is why I still show up every day."

My lessons emphasize tactile feedback, incorporating fingerpicking and rhythmic discipline alongside complex chord transitions. As a University of Otago graduate, I provide structured guidance that aligns with the requirements for NCEA Levels 1 to 3.
I offer a monthly recorded review of progress so you can actually hear how far you have come. We focus on the guitar skills that matter most to your development. Everything moves at a pace that keeps you feeling challenged but never overwhelmed. You are welcome to join."
