About Bernadette

Hello! I’m an experienced Math and Science educator with over 20 years of teaching and 17 years of tutoring experience, dedicated to helping students build confidence, curiosity, and mastery in learning. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, a Master of Arts in Education (Major in Mathematics Teaching), and a Doctorate in Development Education. My teaching journey began in the Philippines, where I served 15 years in public schools, 4 years in private schools, and 12 years as a visiting faculty member in a Catholic learning institution. Currently, I continue to share my passion for teaching as an international teacher in the United States. I specialize in Mathematics and Science-related disciplines, including Chemistry, Biology, Earth and Environmental Science, Physics, Algebra, and Research. My teaching approach blends structure and flexibility—balancing solid academic foundations with engaging, real-world applications that make learning meaningful and enjoyable. Each lesson is student-centered and adaptive, focusing on conceptual understanding, guided practice, and independent learning. I believe that every learner can thrive when given the right tools, encouragement, and opportunities to connect knowledge with everyday life. About the lesson

With 20 years of teaching and 17 years of tutoring experience, I provide engaging, student-centered instruction in Biology, Chemistry, AP Environmental Science, Algebra, and Statistics. Each session is structured yet flexible, adapting to individual pacing and learning styles.

A typical lesson begins with a 5–10 minute warm-up or review, reinforcing previous material through quick questions or a brief quiz. The next 10–15 minutes introduce new concepts, often framed in real-life or interdisciplinary contexts—such as linking chemistry to environmental systems. During 25–30 minutes of guided practice, we work through examples together, from balancing chemical equations to analyzing ecological data or solving algebraic problems. The independent application phase (15–20 minutes) allows students to apply concepts on their own while I provide hints and feedback. Finally, a 5–10 minute wrap-up and reflection consolidates learning, addresses misconceptions, and previews the next lesson.

My approach combines clarity, real-world relevance, and consistent feedback to build confidence, deepen understanding, and promote long-term academic success.
