About Harland

Enthusiastic, outgoing and energetic would be words both my friends, colleagues and I would use to describe myself. I have a genuine thirst for life and people, I feel every interaction with someone is an opportunity to learn and understand what is around us.

Travel is a huge part of what I enjoy, I have been to many countries. Many were solo trips where I feel it’s important to submerge myself in the culture. On a trip to Thailand in 2017 I spend 3 days at a rural school helping out with all children and staff, which gave me such a deep respect for our profession. I have now decided that I would like to live in another country so I can grow as a person in experiences of different cultures.

Health and fitness is something I thoroughly enjoy, I regularly attend the gym as well as finding new physical activities to socialise and be active. I spend some of my weekends and half terms with friends cycling around the countryside in my hometown as well as lengthy trips and we have a great sense of community and belonging as a group. I have a passion for adventure and spend much of my spare time and holidays scuba diving, kite surfing and hiking.

I feel that having a plethora of life experience other than education also adds to me being a knowledgeable, well-rounded individual.

About the lesson

Building a strong relationship with your child is paramount to me. Individualized learning for all students is how I tailor my lessons to the needs of each child. Within lessons, students will be engaged, using innovative tools to support them, real life links and making better than expected progress.
Lessons will typically last between 1-2 hours depending on the needs of each student.
My lessons are mostly suited to students in Key Stage 2, from the ages 7-12.
