About Kayla
Kia Ora, I’m Kayla. School can be tough at the best of times, friend circles, new routines, never mind the actual learning. My job is to help you work out how you learn and support you getting the grades you deserve. Sometimes teachers are a bit too time-pressed to provide you one-on-one support, that’s where I step in. As your tutor we set goals, decide on session case studies and organize your academic calendar. My case studies in the past have included video games, Sabrina Carpenter songs and hot chocolate adventures looking at media content in the CBD. Kia Ora, My name is Kayla and I love helping students learn how to learn. My lesson plans can range from simple course material, all the way to helping your child work out how they can study to their full potential. I focus heavily on building academic confidence, how to analyze an academic question and helping students learn how to study effectively. My lesson lengths vary heavily based on need and parent input. You know your child, I’m here to work with you and offer academic support, while being a non-judgmental friendly resource for your child. My services as a tutor also include after-hours proofreading with feedback for assignments so your child can proactively work on their improvement. I have experience teaching English, statistics, media studies, social studies, psychology and history. My formal tutoring experience includes tutoring for Victoria University, Yourtutor Australasia and Pencilcase Tutors NZ. I am returning to tutoring after a two-year break to focus on my studies. In terms of formal education I have a bachelor's degree in psychology and criminology, with an honors in criminology. Earlier this year I graduated with my Postgraduate diploma in business and am set to graduate with my Master's in Business Development in May 2026 via Auckland University. Being a tutor is an incredibly rewarding part of my life. I’ve seen several of my students in graduation parades, one even becoming a teacher after years of feeling like their voice didn’t belong in a classroom.
