Retired weather forecaster with over 25 years experience where math and thermodynamics is used on a daily for issuing weather forecasts. I have taught several junior high school classes regarding weather and the importance. Love teaching all levels of math.

It will depend on the student emotions and how frustrated they are. I will reassure the student that we will get through this together and try different approaches until we get the answer right. If the student still doesn’t understand, will work the problem out again and more slowly so they will understand no matter how long it takes.
