About Natasha

I’m an ardent lifelong student myself, and what I love most about teaching, whether as a mentor for other professionals or for young people, is always being surrounded by inspiring co-learners who bring unique cultural perspectives, courageous questions, fresh insight, and limitless creativity to expand and enrich our work beyond expectation. My educational passion also takes me traveling frequently, and I have thrived living abroad in between attending various schools during my undergrad and graduate studies in theater, social studies, psychology, and teaching. After much gallivanting, I eventually settled into rural life on tiny Orcas Island (WA), and full-time teaching while raising a child over these past two decades. I began with secondary English, Spanish, and multilingual arts in traditional classrooms, and migrated to online teaching about eight years ago. This year I’m back in the IRL classroom, but with my own offspring gone on a gap year adventure and ample free time at hand, I’m happy to welcome new students online again!

About the lesson

We will begin all of our sessions with an acknowledgment and celebration of the meaningful work you have already labored to accomplish! My own work is firmly grounded in both joy and purpose (I love helping students overcome traditional barriers to education, for example), and I will encourage you in this approach as well. Next we will visit your most important long and short term goals and start walking the steps toward your target achievements. We will identify what “success” means to you - including the self-care needed to make your plan effective and sustainable - and how you can best reflect and measure your progress and goal completion along the way. The particular details of your plan will be shaped and updated by your unique, evolving capacities and needs, your demonstrated growth during our shared time, and your desired outcomes. It is my great pleasure to play this role in the empowerment of your voice, skills, and knowledge!
