  • When did you first develop a passion for music and your favourite instrument?

I first developed a passion for playing the piano at the age of 8.
  • Is there a particular type of music or artist that you listen to on a loop without it driving you crazy?

Although I play a range of styles, I can listen to music by Chopin endlessly, without it ever driving me crazy.
  • Explain to us the most difficult or riveting course you could personally give to a student of music.

The most difficult course I offer is the diploma piano course. This is a Post - Grade 8 level course and it is suitable for advanced students who have already passed Grade 8 piano.
  • What do you think is the most complicated instrument to master and why?

I think the hardest instrument to master is the violin, as the bowing technique and vibrato technique is quite challenging and you need to be precise with your left hand finger placement for all the notes to be in tune.
  • What are your keys to success?

The keys to success are to have a a goal ( or a series of goals), to practice 5 to 7 times per week, and to love what you are doing.
  • Name three musicians you dream of meeting in your favourite bar in the early hours of the morning. Explain why.

3 musicians I would love to meet would be Daniel Barenboim, Frederic Chopin and Stevie Wonder. I know that Chopin is sadly no longer with us, but I interpret the question to include living musicians as well as those from the past. I would find out about their lives, their influences, how they practice and so much more!
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to music or your days at music school.

A little story I would like to share is that I once performed for the Prince of Malaysia in New Delhi, India. It was a great experience!
  • What are the little touches that make you a Superprof in music?

The touches that make me a Superprof in music are teaching each student as an individual, making lessons engaging and inspiring, being able to play and teach a wide range of repertoire, and having a strong background in performance and pedagogy.
