About Raymond
Teaching exists because I want to bridge the gap between self-taught curiosity and formal theory for players like you. You might be a teen starting out, an adult returning to the fretboard, or a church musician ready to play rock and indie music.
11 years of guiding students has shown me exactly how to turn frustration into progress. My approach combines the rigor of my USC Thornton training with the raw reality of learning from cassette tapes.
I have mentored hundreds of students to find their unique voice on the instrument. Expect an honest, hands-on partner who values your growth over rigid methods. We will build a path together that respects your history while pushing you toward the sounds you actually want to hear.

Guitar practice feels like a conversation. It is messy and real.
You will find that our time together focuses on electric technique, lead guitar, and the rhythm work that holds everything in place. Whether we are drilling barre chords or perfecting complex chord transitions, the work stays grounded in the music you love.
I utilize the same theory foundations taught at USC Thornton but strip away the academic fluff. Because I work with everyone from teens to returning adults, the pacing adjusts to your specific goals during our time together. We prioritize the physical mechanics of your playing style first. If you are unsure where to begin, I offer a free trial session to assess your current level of skill.
This ensures we start in the right place so you do not waste a single minute of your practice time. Nothing feels better than finally hitting that transition you have been struggling with for weeks. We will get there one step at a time.
