About Katie

I have practised Olympic Taekwondo for over 20 years, beginning my journey as a young child, and experiencing martial arts throughout each stage of my life.

I compete and represent Great Britain internationally, meaning I've developed a firm foundation of techniques which I'd love to share with others. Martial arts have taught me commitment, respect, discipline, pride, and the importance of health & wellbeing, as well as methods of maintaining my health.

Throughout my tutoring career, I have run several summer camps for children, incorporating educational classes in the history of Taekwondo, anatomy & physiology, and basic Korean language skills. My aim was for children to learn important life lessons (such as the importance of a balanced diet) through the physical and fun aspects of martial arts, and these camps demonstrated huge success.

We live in a very fast-paced world, and martial arts separates you from that for 30 minutes, or 60 minutes, and allows you to focus entirely on yourself, improving your physicality and skills.

About the lesson

I develop lesson plans and training programmes, bespoke to your needs, goals and abilities. We'll begin with an informal assessment of your your needs (usually a quick chat!) and what you want to get out of these sessions. In many cases, individuals at this stage don't know what they want from the training, so we explore a huge range of benefits, challenges and achievements that martial arts can give you.

Whether you want to work on flexibility and mobility to improve your range of movements, or perhaps you want to use high-intensity martial arts to improve fitness levels, these sessions can do that for you. Perhaps you want your children to learn develop their soft skills; discipline, commitment and structure? Martial arts can do this.

With a Bachelor of Sciences (honours) degree in Sport, Health & Exercises Sciences, I also have extensive knowledge of physical recovery. With these sessions, you can have an all-round experience.
