About Hannah
Hello! My name is Hannah Atcheson, and I am a dedicated elementary educator with a passion for helping young learners build strong academic foundations and confidence in their abilities. As a kindergarten teacher, I have extensive experience supporting students as they develop essential skills in early reading, writing, and math.
My teaching approach focuses on creating a positive, engaging, and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, taking risks, and celebrating their progress. I use research-based strategies, hands-on activities, and individualized instruction to meet each student’s unique learning needs.
I believe that every child can succeed when given the right support and encouragement. My goal is not only to strengthen academic skills but also to help students develop confidence and a love of learning that will benefit them throughout their educational journey.
Families can expect professionalism, clear communication, and a commitment to helping each student reach their full potential. I take pride in building trusting relationships with both students and parents, ensuring that tutoring sessions are productive, encouraging, and tailored to each learner.

My teaching approach focuses on creating a supportive, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment where young learners feel confident to take risks and grow. I use a combination of hands-on activities, visual supports, phonics-based instruction, and interactive learning strategies to meet each child’s individual needs.
I believe young students learn best through play, repetition, and meaningful connections, so I incorporate games, storytelling, movement, and manipulatives into lessons. I closely monitor student progress and adjust instruction to ensure every learner is supported and challenged at their level. My goal is to help students build strong foundational skills in reading, writing, and math while also developing confidence and a love of learning.
A Typical Lesson Plan
A typical tutoring session is structured but flexible to meet the needs of the student. Sessions may include:
• Warm-Up Activity (5 minutes) – A quick review game or phonics activity to activate prior knowledge.
• Skill Instruction (10–15 minutes) – Direct teaching of the focus skill, such as letter sounds, blending words, sight words, counting, or number sense.
• Guided Practice (10–15 minutes) – Hands-on activities, games, or reading practice where the student applies the skill with support.
• Independent Practice (5–10 minutes) – The student demonstrates understanding through a short activity, writing task, or problem-solving exercise.
• Wrap-Up and Encouragement (5 minutes) – Review what was learned and celebrate progress to build confidence.
What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor
As a kindergarten teacher, I have extensive experience working with young learners who are just beginning their academic journey. I understand how important it is to build strong foundational skills early, especially in phonics, early reading, writing, and number sense.
I focus not only on academic skills but also on confidence building and positive learning habits. My lessons are engaging, patient, and tailored to each student’s learning style. I strive to make learning fun and meaningful so that students feel successful and motivated to continue improving.
Who the Lessons Are For
My tutoring sessions are designed for early elementary students, particularly:
• Pre-Kindergarten through 2nd Grade
• Students who need support with early reading, phonics, letter recognition, sight words, and beginning writing
• Students developing foundational math skills such as counting, number recognition, addition, and problem solving
• English Language Learners who need additional support with phonological awareness and language development
• Students who need extra confidence and reinforcement outside the classroom
